A map of Tinian

Fly to Tinian Island. Marvel at the small, narrow invasion beaches where the Marine landings surprised the Japanese defenders; see pillboxes and the rusted hulk of a landing craft. Explore the now abandoned North Field…in 1944-45 the most active airfield in the world with hundreds of B-29 bombers and tens of thousands of airmen and support troops.

We will then visit the CNMI (commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) Museum and the Japanese jail. grotto (4k)

The grotto. This is the most popular cavern in Tinian. With three main entry points into the cavern, most divers enter from the hole on top finding a beautiful room inside. The cavern is a great place to find Lionfish. For the more experienced divers a wall that reaches into oblivion is nearby. At the end of the dive, look back towards the cavern to see tiny bubbles escaping from the inside.

July 27 (Monday)

Early morning transfer to the Saipan airport for Guam which is timed to connect to the 630am departure of Continental Airlines back to the mainland. Transfer in Guam to this flight or another back to the USA or your home country or additional touring. End of a great trip.
